My First Survey!
I finally created and distributed my teacher survey!
I was initially struggling with how to come up with the criteria for my program (how to decide what truly makes quality literature), and then with some guidance from my CAPS teachers I decided to turn to the experts in the field. The English faculty here at Newton North is exceptionally brilliant. They know not only how to teach English, but how to recognize a good book and what makes it good. I sent out a survey asking a few questions about their opinions on assorted topics of literature. I've gotten some amazing results! The survey has also been sent out to the English faculty at Newton South and to a few teachers at Waltham High School. Here is my survey (please only take survey if you are part of the English faculty):

THE PLAN
I've decided its time to consult some of the public to give my project some direction. Since my research is fundamentally based on the literature preferences of the public, I should probably start engaging the public. My plan is to start coming up with classic examples of prose of certain genres. I think I'll start off with the basics: horror, historical, nonfiction, fantasy. I'm just starting to scrape the surface of these interviews, so I'll stick with basic genre criteria for now. Eventually, I'll get into the nitty gritty details and start looking for preferences in writing style. Once I figure out how to do that.
